Dark shadow of antisemitism in Alma ballot

An election poster has been defaced with anti-Semitic, anti Israel graffiti.

An election poster for Dick Gross has been defaced with anti-Semitic, anti Israel graffiti.

The poster in Carlisle Street (crn Woodstock) was defaced with graffiti saying “ISREAL 1948-2025”

Armed with a spray can, Dick quickly removed the offending words.

Cr Marcus Pearl told TWiSK he was appalled by the brazen rise in anti-Semitic intimidation within our community.

“To see graffiti defacing our city with the message ‘Israel 1948-2025’—implying the destruction of a nation—is not just an insult to Dick Gross, but to all of us who believe in decency and respect.”

Reflecting on his years working alongside Gross, Cr Pearl remarked, “In the eight years I’ve known Dick, he’s been subjected to acts of hate simply because he’s Jewish”

“Anti-Semitism is on the rise, and it’s not just a Jewish problem—it’s an issue for all of us who care about the fabric of our society. This kind of hatred is corroding our democracy, and we must confront it head-on. We cannot and will not tolerate this behavior.”
