Local Honours 2026

Illustrating, skateboarding, respiratory medicine and hockey helped these locals make an outstanding contribution to our nation, earning them an award in the Australia Day Honours List. Bravo

Graeme Base AM

For significant service to children’s literature as an author and illustrator.
Graeme Base is a renowned author and illustrator, widely considered one of the world’s leading creators of picture books. His books include meticulous detail, hidden images, and rich, imaginative worlds.

Renton Millar OAM

For service to skateboarding.
Renton Millar is a prominent Australian former professional vertical skateboarder, now a senior World Skate Judge and event organiser. He helped to design the St Kilda Skatepark.

Dr Robert George Stirling AM

For significant service to respiratory oncology as a clinician and educator, and to research.

Mr John Slutzkin OAM

For service to the Jewish community of Melbourne, and to hockey.
