[Tuesday 25 March] Liberal candidate for Macnamara, Benson Saulo, has pledged over $500K for local CCTV if a Dutton government is elected.
The pledge specifies $100K each for hotspots across Macnamara, including Carlisle St, Balaclava, Bay St, Port Melbourne, Clarendon St, South Melbourne, Acland and Fitzroy Streets, St Kilda. Chapel St, Windsor will get $120K.
The funds will come from a revitalised Safer Communities Fund (SCF) to install CCTV cameras.
A Liberal statement said the revitalised SCF will build on the programme established by the previous Coalition Government, delivering grant funding to councils, schools, and local organisations to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, enhance security around community spaces, and promote social cohesion.
