David Blakeley* and Colleen Bolger are the latest two candidates to announce they will be standing in the upcoming Council elections for the St Kilda Ward.
Blakeley is well know for his role with the Fitzroy Street Traders. Colleen Bolger is a Victorian Socialist candidates and lawyer – she is a veteran of many local elections.
They join current Councillors Tim Baxter (Greens) and Robbie Nyaguy (ALP), former Councillor Serge Thomann and resident Jenni Roper in the race for a single spot on the nine-member Council.
Nominations officially open on Monday 9 September and close at noon on Tuesday 17 September. TWiSK expects more candidates to emerge.
Meanwhile, current Councillor Andrew Bond has announced he will not stand again after serving three terms from 2012 representing wards including the St Kilda area. (See statement)
* David Blakely is taking an absence of leave from all my positions including President of the Fitzroy Street Business Association during the term of the campaign.

Check your boundaries
Living in St Kilda doesn’t always mean you will be voting in St Kilda Ward. The boundaries have changed dramatically since the last council election.
St Kilda residents North of Argyle Street are mostly located in Lakeside Ward, East of Crimea and Lambeth Place mostly in Alma Ward, East of Brighton Road (and South of Inkerman) are generally in Balaclava. Confused – best check the full map here

TWiSK St Kilda Ward candidate forum
TWiSK is organising a public forum for candidates in early October. Stay tuned for details.
