Theatre Works now has a fully accessible backstage and rehearsal space.

Theatre Works now has a fully accessible backstage and rehearsal space.

The new architect-designed and fully accessible Backstage and Rehearsal space was officially opened last week by Colin Brooks MP, Minister for Creative Industries.

Designed by Nelson+Koo Architects and built by Turn Construction, the new building provides state-of-the-art amenities to support Theatre Works’ mission of fostering bold, independent, accessible theatre.

The new building has dedicated rehearsal, backstage, and set workshop spaces, along with fully accessible facilities.

Theatre Works’ redevelopment is an initiative of the Victorian State Government through Creative Victoria, supported by the City of Port Phillip, Jane & Stephen Hains, MacKenzie Gobbo Foundation, Naomi Milgrom Foundation, and other generous donors and friends.

In recognition of a significant contribution from Greg Day, the creator of TWiSK, the accessible rehearsal space will be known as the TWiSK Rehearsal Space.
