[Sunday 7 pm] As deadline approaches, counting continues within local ALP ranks to select their candidates for Council. The results of local ballots contribute part of the preselection, with Labor’s Admin Committee set to make the final decision later this week.
Ballots of local ALP members were required in Alma and Balaclava Wards. Former Mayor Dick Gross put his name forward in both wards.
The local ballot winners were:
Libby Buckingham, Balaclava Ward
Dick Gross, Alma Ward.
Three sitting councillors were unopposed:
Louise Crawford, Elwood Ward
Robbie Nyaguy, St Kilda Ward
Peter Martin, Montague Ward
The final results will be confirmed later this week.
