The five-storey project at 61–73 Fitzroy Street, being built by BCentral, will deliver 45 apartments above ground-floor retail and is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2028.
Designed to respond to Fitzroy Street’s heritage character, the development spans a 2660sq m site and includes one-, two- and three-bedroom residences, a penthouse collection and a 65-metre retail frontage.
Fortis head of acquisitions (commercial) Victoria, Jordan Winada, said the project marked a turning point for Fitzroy Street.
“The Gild blends heritage with innovation, and community with culture,” he said. “We believe in placemaking that reflects the soul of a neighbourhood, creating spaces that endure and contribute meaningfully to the precinct.”
Part of a broader precinct push
The Gild forms part of the St Kilda Collective, a group convened by Fortis that includes ERDI, boutique developer Ondas and the City of Port Phillip. Together, the group says it represents more than $196 million in development activity across the precinct.
The project is one of several major developments reshaping the lower end of Fitzroy Street.
