Women’s win caps season for St Kilda City

St Kilda City’s women capped a remarkable second season with the club’s first women’s premiership, while the Senior Men and Reserves also advanced to their grand finals. Charley Falla reports for TWiSK.

The Women’s Senior team capped a remarkable second season by claiming its first premiership. After building momentum throughout the year, the team produced a nine-game winning streak when it mattered most and carried that form into the grand final. City dominated Mordialloc in the decider, winning 50–15 to secure its first piece of silverware. The achievement is a significant milestone for a program in only its second year and provides an exciting foundation for the future of women’s football at the club.

The Reserves also enjoyed a season of significant improvement after missing the finals in 2025. The side then produced a fairytale run, finding its best form when it mattered most and fighting its way through to the grand final. Despite falling just short against Skye, 60–67, the campaign demonstrated the group’s growth and resilience. Although the result was disappointing, reaching the grand final was a major step forward from the previous season.

Senior Men again proved themselves among the competition’s leading sides, reaching the grand final for a second consecutive year. After another strong campaign, City had the chance to go one step further but fell 60–69 to a powerful Heatherton side.

While the two grand final defeats brought disappointment, the season underlined the strength and depth of St Kilda City’s football program. With a women’s premiership, a remarkable finals resurgence from the Reserves and back-to-back grand final appearances for the Senior Men, the club has plenty to build on next season.
